Whiplash

whipup

This month's Whiplash challenge is wardrobe surgery. I have been involved in Kelli's "It's a Wristlet World" swap. The challenge was to create a wristlet that somehow conveys the part of the world you are from. Being as I am a native Texan, I realize that most people associate the wild west with our big 'ol state. Now I admit I grew up on a farm surrounded by livestock & such; however, I do NOT wear boots & Wranglers...EVER! Nor do I condone western print attire. However, the wild west is an important part of our state's history & heritage. So I decided to deconstruct an old pearl-snap shirt I found while thrifting & turn it into a wristlet for my fabulous partner Cecilie in Norway. I used 3 buttons from the front of the shirt as the closure instead of a zipper. I also used part of the cuff as the wrist part & added one of the pockets to the front. I am entering this in the deconstruct/reconstruct category of Whiplash's August contest. See all the photos here. Thanks for looking!
