Two Events Coming in March

For over 10 years, Funky Finds has been producing some of the best and largest handmade events in the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex. On March 9th & 10th, 2019, Funky Finds will host TWO amazing shopping markets at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 11th Annual Funky Finds Spring Fling will feature over 100 area makers selling items they personally hand-crafted. In addition to the popular handmade artisan market, Funky Finds will be hosting Pearl Snaps & Dust: Upscale Vintage with a Little Bit of Rust.

Through the years, Funky Finds has established a large customer base that values shopping local for unique & funky items. We are excited to offer our loyal event attendees an additional venue offering vintage wares, adding an exciting new dimension to their shopping experience.

Pearl Snaps & Dust will feature live music & we are currently accepting submissions from interested performers. As always, the Spring Fling will include a charitable raffle benefiting CASA of Tarrant County and the Humane Society of North Texas, as well as on-site pet adoptions. Both events will be held side-by-side in the newly renovated Small Exhibits and Cattle 1 buildings at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. The vendor application deadline for both March events is January 6th, 2019.

The 9th Annual Funky Finds Holiday Shopping Experience was held on November 17th and 18th and was enjoyed by thousands of area shoppers that value shopping small & supporting local businesses. A total of $3,605.00 was raised for DFW Toys for Tots and the Humane Society of North Texas and 35 pets were adopted at the event.

Etsy NY Holiday Handmade Cavalcade


Shop for creative gifts and support
small businesses this holiday season!

The Etsy NY Street Team is back this year to serve as your holiday elf with the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade! More than 60 makers from the tri-state area will gather to sell their unique creations providing the community with the opportunity to support local & purchase unique gifts. The event will feature a vast selection of handmade goods including clothing, jewelry, paper goods, body products, eco-friendly finds, and so much more.

Preview the vendors’ offerings by visiting the Etsy Local page for the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade. There, you’ll be able to check out who will be selling at the event, start creating those shopping lists, and even take advantage of some Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday deals ahead of the Cavalcade!

Other event highlights include goody bags for the first 100 shoppers each day, several raffle packages that will be up for grabs and Cavalcade sponsor Etsy will be on hand to offer free gift wrapping for any purchases made at the event. Also, Kiva Zip will also be on hand to answer questions about person-to-person lending.

Please note that shoppers will have the opportunity to give back to their community by donating gently used coats for the New York Cares 26th Annual Coat Drive!

Funky Finds Event Recap


Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making the Funky Finds Holiday Shopping Experience a success! We greatly appreciate all attendees, vendors, and sponsors! Visit our Facebook page to see photos from the event!

Through the charitable raffle, t-shirt sales, photos with Santa, and monetary donations, we raised $3,000.00 that has been split evenly between The Humane Society of North Texas and DFW Toys for Tots.

Many thanks to all the vendors, sponsors & other generous donors for providing raffle & swag bag items and to everyone who purchased raffle tickets!!!

Attendees generously donated over $500.00 in cash donations to Don’t Forget to Feed Me who also collected 181 pounds of pet food!!!

Also, TWELVE dogs were adopted at the event!!!

Peculiar Pieces - A talented sister duo who collaborates to provide diversity in style, creativity and originality. Their one-of-a-kind pieces are as unique and individual as you.

Playing With Wood Country Style - A family owned and operated affair featuring hand-crafted items using new and/or repurposed wood.


Potter's Cove - Rachael Swink creates pottery that is functional and can be used by everyone. She provides pieces for both people AND their much loved pets.

Productive Knits - Kiki Alusick designs her own patterns that she knits and assembles by hand. She likes to keep things simple, warm and natural, as well as functional.

RockNRose Creek - Victoria Gassett has been redesigning lost treasures for many years. She enjoys creating many different items, including home décor, furniture restoration, birdfeeders, and windchimes.


S&S Creations TX - A Mother/Daughter duo that work together to create one of a kind treasures from largely "re-claimed" items. Ninety percent of their product line has come from someone's discards resulting in their motto of "We don't fulfill a need, we fulfill a desire."

sarah.allen.ltd - This creative duo is comprised of a stay-at-home-mom and a retired school teacher who enjoy going to craft fairs and are having a wonderful time meeting new people.

Savannah Hoffman Designs - Felicia Akop creates a line of jewelry in a style she refers to as retro modern. She finds beauty in ordinary things, such as bus tokens and keys, and loves to mix them with pearls or something else unexpected.

Saved SALVAGED Sewn - Stacey Stastny creates refillable Leather Journals, Sketchbooks, Notebook Covers and more. Every item is handcrafted using scrap and salvage leather and old cowboy boots.


Sawdust & Bullets - Diana & Charla love to create unique pieces of functional art with a one-of-a-kind flair. Items like ice cream scoops can be created with an acrylic, wood or 50 caliber shell handle.

Seymour and Sons Woodworking - Thomas Seymour & his family strive to create items that are pretty, usable and affordable. Each family member has a role in creating each one-of-a-kind item.

Sisters Sew A Lot - Sisters Carolyn & Janice have been sewing since they were children. Having created & taught techniques for years, the retired sisters started this adventure to satisfy their creativity and to present quality items for people.

Soulflame Pottery - Husband & wife team, Roy & Cindy, teach introductory & advanced ceramics classes for adults & children of all ages. They also create beautiful ceramic pieces!


South Austin Gallery - Husband & wife team, Jennifer & Joseph Worth, began their business in 2005 while traveling throughout 19 different European countries. Their goal is to highlight the artistic essence of various cities, while capturing the memories of their customers.

Sycamore Sticks - Kim Brown learned to create jewelry as a result of her love for rocks, stones and beautiful glass. She strives to create jewelry that appeals to all age groups while remaining affordable.

Sylva Pagana - A husband & wife team living in a country cottage where they hand-craft their all-natural bath & beauty products. They specialize in beard care, solid and spray perfumes and colognes, and alchemy arts.

TabbyCat & Co. - Teresa Meredith uses fabric to create desirable handbags, totes, coasters, and much more!


Tasteless Designs - Amanda Sims is a Texas native who has been crafting her entire life. A tight budget made her accustomed to reduce, reuse, and recycle as a budget issue and later for moral and environmental reasons. Currently, she's focusing on spinning and dying yarn, but still makes things for those that cannot knit or crochet yet.

Texas Hill Country Olive Company - A family-owned business located in Dripping Springs, TX committed to supplying the highest quality olive oil produced in the United States. Their certified organic olive orchard features a Tuscan-inspired mill house, a state-of-the-art Italian olive press, and a large tasting room.

Texas Night Light - A family-owned and operated small business that is all about setting the mood with candles that are "hand-poured, the real Texan way."

The Creative Caterpillar - Mandy Duncan is a busy mom trying to make the most of her time with her kids by crafting, creating and selling! She currently sells in Canton at First Monday Trade Days.


The Letter Lounge - Founded by Mike Clem, Letter Lounge operates as an independent family business in Dallas, TX. Mike carefully considers each reclaimed book's story as he transforms it into a custom piece of typographical art.

The Little Yellow Chair - Julia Moore loves color & redesigns all of furniture with this in mind. She strives to provide the public with solid pieces at affordable prices that will brighten up any space.

The Silver Craftsman - Sheldon Roy is a teen entrepreneur who enjoys offering many different hand-crafted items made from re-purposed silverware.

Tipsy Glass - Unique Handmade Gifts created by Rebecca Ahumada.


Vertically Verdant - Lauren Overzet started Vertically Verdant in February of 2014, designing and crafting her own unique vertical gardens. She lives in Fort Worth with her husband and two dogs, and gardens constantly.

Vischer Ferry Stained Glass - For more than 30 years, Dan & Bonnie Carlson have enjoyed designing and creating stained glass works of art. Each of their pieces is handcrafted using the traditional copper foil technique.

Vivian Williams - Vivian Williams is a retired 86 year old artist who has been making recycled plastic bag hats for five years.

What's My Future - Jennifer Hadley-White loves making stationery that is pretty, yet fun & creative. She recently began incorporating fabric, wood, embroidery, and paper clay to create unique sculptures.


Wicked Whatnots - A husband & wife team that have a love for graphic arts & repurposing all sorts of things. The duo creates altered art designs & uses the images to create unique & funky fun to wear jewelry & flasks.

Wonders of Wood by Bill - William Garrett & his wife build rustic custom wood bird houses (Wood Tweets), custom wood accent pieces, and custom wood children's pieces (Wood for Tots).

Woods Unique - Jeff Ralston, owner and artistic craftsman, established Woods Unique based on the belief that the customer's needs are of the utmost importance. Jeff doesn't use computer-operated machinery, laser guided shapers, or other "factory" type production methods. Each piece is individually handcrafted so there will be differences between pieces.

Yvonne4eyes Card & Art Manipulations - Yvonne Wilson is a self-taught artist who wore her 1st pair of glasses at the tender age of eight. Her charts, sketches, & need to cut are a reflection of what she has seen behind glass as a child and what she sees daily.

Houchin's House of Wizarding Wares - Husband and wife team Erin and Keri Houchin who work together to create products that bring imagination to life and inspire.

House of Kerri - Kerri Lavery Sterin has found purpose and a new beginning through creating. She uses patina, dye-oxide, and gilders paste to create pieces that are full of color, depth, and texture.

Hymn Drop Shoppe - Brooke Wright is a singer/songwriter who works hard to create designs that are hopefully used as conversation pieces for others to share their faith & their favorite verses or hymns.

Jabberwocky Graphix - Brad Foster is an artist who uses pen and ink to create unique & interesting pieces.


JaHanna Martinez - JaHanna started her headband line six years ago because she was unable to find comfortable & fashionable headbands that actually stayed in place.

Jazz It Up - Accessories by Sarah - Handcrafted accessories by Monica Spychalski.

jgrumbling handmade jewelry - Although Janet came late to jewelry-making, opening her business in April 2009, she has a background in crafting and creative endeavors, including a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree earned at the University of Texas at Arlington and time spent as an advertising layout artist.

KLW's Beaded Jewelry - Kathie Ward is a 72 year old self-taught beader who creates beautiful accessories.


Kristin Victoria Designs - Kim Shorman is not your typical teenager! As a 2011 Texas Youth Entrepreneur finalist, she enjoys being fun and creative, but when it comes to business she gets serious. Currently a Texas A&M junior Economics major, Kim stays busy making and selling unique jewelry and gifts, studying, and working as a medic on campus which help pay for her schooling.

La Casita Hot Sauce - Based upon a family recipe, Veronica Westlake uses fresh produce & traditional spices to create an authentic Tex-Mex hot sauce that will please the entire family.

Laughing Crafter Studio - Buffy Hall creates beauty out of mud and broken glass, with muddy fingers and a grateful heart.

LemonGlaze - Carmen Aberasturi enrolled in a ceramic class at a local college and has since been unable to stop creating pieces with clay.


Little Bunny SueSue - Carol Camp was inspired by the birth of her granddaughter who gave her a reason to pull out the sewing machine and start creating again.

Lynnlee Layne Boutique - Natalie Wyatt has been sewing for over 30 years & specializes in quality handmade children's and ladies clothes and accessories.

m.a.d.mishka designs - Michele Dietrich is a zookeeper by day...artist by night who loves paper crafting and sharing her creations with others.

Mad Dash Mixes - Sherri Leal manufactures and sells declicious mixes of dried dip, soup, dessert and pasta salads.


Magpie's Trick - A husband & wife collaboration of jewelers, dreamers, and gypsies. Using traditional methods, the duo creates wearable art from sterling silver, silk, and natural gemstones.

Main Street Soap Co. - What began as a hobby has evolved into a successful family business featuring hand-crafted soap for the past three years.

Marigold Trading Company - What started out as a way to earn a little extra Christmas money has come a long way. The Southall family cuts and paints all of their products that are truly lovingly homemade.

Mary's Madness - Mary Davenport recycles & up-cycles found items creating one-of-a-kind accessories. She also provides a wonderful selection of antique & vintage supplies for crafters!


Maude C.& Co - Lauryn Bray is a Designer, Blogger & Wardrobe Stylist who established Maude C. & Co. in 2007.

Mimi's Gift Closet - Julene & Donna have been seamstresses, pattern engineers, designers & more for many years. As the love of their grandchildren started filling their hearts, they felt the need to fill up the gift closet.

Mistura Timepieces - Mistura specializes in natural watches, handcrafted with South American sustainable wood and 100% genuine leather.

Ms Becky's Holiday - Rebecca Conklin started her own holiday ornament business after being downsized at work. Her personal goal is to create a holiday memory for her customers that is unique and unusual.


My Dearest Danae - In an effort to shy away from a Christmas focused on material items, Katie Ellis & her husband took on a major challenge to go back to a simpler, purer time and hand-make all of the gifts for their friends and family. Their soap-making adventure has evolved into a wonderful business!

Noe's Hot Sauce LLC - A Hot Sauce like no other featuring a 25 year old home recipe. This hot sauce has NO onions, NO cilantro, NO bell peppers and NO whole tomatoes.

p.s. Paper Shoppe - Pei Sim focuses on simple, charming designs that are sprinkled with a little bit of whimsy. All products are made with integrity, quality and fun!

Painted Pennies - Having taught art within the Keller ISD for ten years, Penny Tandy is currently a stay at home mom who enjoys painting and crafting.

Deco Beading - Jessica Burns is a bead artist who designs all of her pieces from scratch. She never uses patterns making each piece truly one of a kind.

Don't Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Bank - The mission of Don't Forget to Feed Me is to supply pet food to local food pantries in support of pet owners. Dp-art Gallery - Diana Prickett has been painting since she was a child & started working with recycled items about 5 years ago.

Dragonflies and Daisies - Sharon Davis loves creating & selling handmade baby items made out of fabric.

Eagle Mountain Pottery - Sandy Tucker is passionate about art in all forms. She enjoys using clay to create both functional and artistic pieces that the viewer with be able to enjoy on a daily basis.

ecoFashionistas - Sisters, Karla Schafer and Katrina Peebles, collaborate to create unique up-cycled products turning trash into treasure!


Elle Furch Decor - Lauren Furch strongly believes in recycling and does her best to provide a variety of glass products with customizable colors and accessories.

EME and Lou - Elaine Ellington partnered with her children & grandchildren to create unique accessories.

Emma Alison Designs - Heidy Henke has been making jewelry for nearly 15 years. Her jewelry tends to be delicate and feminine while showcasing natural gemstones.

E's Unique Glass Creations - Eileen Horton is a glass art who loves creating unique decor!


Forget Me Nots - Kristen Dinh, a student at UTA, has always been a crafter at heart and loves sharing her hobby with others. She began making soap when her younger sister needed a soap that was more sensitive on her skin.

Fragrance 4 Every Mood - Jessica Perez creates designer type fragrances for men & women, as well as other bath & body products.

FUSED GLASS - Christine Pincemin-Johnstone was born in France, lives in Texas, & creates new items using various techniques with fused glass.

GamiWorks - Chiyogami Gifts + Accessories - Erin Sansoucy doesn't consider herself a girly-girl, but she does appreciate feminine and classic looks...never trendy. She loves to create a hodge-podge of things, keeping her mind and hands busy.


Glassyboop GlassArt - Betty White is a glass artist specializing in functional glass items who has 30 years experience working with different glass mediums.

Green Dog Chic - Lora Dougherty creates unique pet clothing & accessories using recycled materials, such as thifted prom & wedding dresses. She donates a portion of all sales to local animal rescue groups.

Gypsy Rhetoric - Kimberly Bacon is a crafty Texas girl who loves the Lord and is happiest when she's sitting in the middle of piles of craft paper, scissors and glue.

Gypsyharte - Joyce Hazlerig has been creating art all her life. Her current passion is felting wool allowing her to take wool and fiber and shape and create it into something new and different.

Crochet Creations By Autumn - Autumn Guillory creates fun and funky crochet items from her own patterns. She makes her own recycled t-shirt yarn and uses locally spun or dyed yarn whenever possible.

Crosses and Such - Tammy Minter has participated in several craft shows in the DFW area with her crosses & bible boxes over the past 5 years, as well as Canton First Monday Trade Days.

at the 6th Annual Funky Finds Spring Fling

This weekend we will be hosting the 6th Annual Funky Finds Spring Fling at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth. This free indoor event will feature over 120 independent artists, crafters, designers, authors & food makers selling a wide variety of uniquely hand-crafted items. Preview all vendors here.

While most participants are from the DFW area, several are traveling from other states, including Louisiana & Nebraska. With items ranging from accessories to pet goods & everything in between, the family AND pet-friendly event truly features something for everyone!

In addition to all the talented artisans selling their work, the event will feature a charitable raffle benefiting two local organizations - The Humane Society of North Texas and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Tarrant County, an organization of volunteer Advocates who stand up on behalf of abused and neglected children.

Every vendor, sponsor & other generous business owners have donated terrific raffle prizes! Raffle tickets are $1.00 each and the first 75 attendees each day to purchase ten or more tickets will receive a Quirk Books tote bag filled with tons of funky products, coupons & more!

The Humane Society will be facilitating on-site pet adoptions and CASA volunteers will be accepting donations while informing the public about advocacy opportunities. Don’t Forget to Feed Me Pet Food Pantry will also be on-site collecting pet food donations. Attendees earn one free raffle ticket per pet food donation. To date, Funky Finds has raised over $15,000.00 for local charities and over 100 animals have found a forever home at Funky Finds events!

Funky Finds provides area residents with the opportunity to support a large number of local independent business owners & charitable organizations, as well as the chance to purchase unique items that are lovingly hand-crafted.

Holiday Handmade Cavalcade in NYC

The Handmade Cavalcade is a bi-annual craft fair in New York City organized by a group of local crafters & Etsy sellers. Joe and I were lucky enough to attend the holiday event in December 2010 & I can tell you first-hand that it is a top-notch event that showcases tons of talent! At the event, you will find everything from hand-crafted pet clothing by 46 South Designs to hand-knit necklaces by Yana Rodin. The group is giving away a bag of goodies donated by participating vendors via the Etsy New York Facebook page. The giveaway features beautiful jewelry from Sarustar, Prairiefunk, and J. Topolski, art from Tamara Garvey, an infinity scarf from Bshorr Handmade, tea towels from Jenn Eng Studio, and more! Giveaway runs through the event on December 14th & 15th with the winner being announced on Monday, December 16th.
