Wish GRANTed

I've featured Emily Adams & her biz ManHandled several times before. In addition to designing & creating funky cool items, Emily is trying to help her cousin's daughter raise awareness for Mitochondrial Disease. Fourteen year old Delaney is using Facebook to reach & exceed her goal of raising awareness in 10,000 people in one week. She started the page last Saturday afternoon & she's gained impressive momentum. Wish GRANTed is named for Delaney's two & a half year old brother Grant. As stated on the page, every 30 minutes a child is born that will develop Mitochondrial Disease by age 10, and as of now, there is no cure for them. The only hope for a cure is through research and funding, which starts with awareness. I encourage you to visit & like this Facebook page in an effort to help spread the word & learn more about this disorder. For more information, please visit the United Mitchondrial Disease Foundation website.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and lots of indie designers, crafters & designers are doing their part to raise money & awareness about this disease.

1. During October, 20% of the proceeds on all PINK items at Hedvig Bourbon will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. The Lucas Diaper Bag, pictured above, is gorgeous!

2. Liebling Designs recently launched a new floral necklace, Pretty In Pink, to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, too. Designer Jessica has been personally affected by breast cancer & says, "It's the scariest thing to ever happen to me and without the funding that is out there the research and procedures wouldn't have been possible!"

3. Breast Cancer Sucks! What a true statement! These items are a humorous & fun way to support breast cancer awareness and to shed some light on how many people this disease affects. 20% of every purchase from this shop will be donated to helping those that suffer from breast cancer.

4. Crafts by Chris has a terrific selection of Think Pink goods. 50% of Think Pink sales helps support the Susan G. Komen Foundation, as well as 10% of the sales from the rest of the shop. The pink lampwork rings are stunning.
