On Sunday, we had the opportunity to attend the Holiday Handmade Cavalcade in New York. It was a wonderful event produced by The {New New}, a group of crafters in the New York metro area. We were so excited to see Lauren of Lolafalk, an extremely talented handbag designer that used to live in Dallas. We had not seen Lauren since our first Funky Finds Spring Fling in 2009. She has added leather handbags to her impressive line of accessories & they are so well-made & absolutely gorgeous! Below are a few of the participating artisans I wanted to direct your attention to. And all participating vendors can be found here.
Groundsel features unique accessories created using recycled & upcycled materials. I especially like the Vintage Convertible Tie Clutch.
Fisk & Fern creates silly & strange paper and household goods. My favorites include Howdy and the Banana Fantastic (pictured) cards!
Courtney Webb of webbedware creates an eclectic mix of jewelry & accessories using various fabrics. I love the cuffs covered in vintage fabrics.
Perhaps the most practical, yet unusual product we were introduced to was the harf (LOVE the name!). It is a hat with an attached scarf which would come in so handy in cold cities like New York. Then you only have to keep up with one accessory! And they are made from imitation fur...not real fur.
I really liked Better Than Jam's unique clothing. The dresses and skirts are so funky & eye-catching! (Long Sleve Pink Jersey Dress pictured)
Felt It had tons of adorable creations, including a plush owl in the cutest yellow birdcage that I just had to nab for myself! I also love the monkey in fez tissue cozy.
My Zoetrope is a great place to find bright, happy illustrations. There's also lovely ornaments perfect for gift giving.
I also love Virginia Kraljevic's illustrations, including New York, New York and the quirky For the Love of Toast.
