Funky Finds: A Holiday Shopping Experience

On November 10 & 11, Funky Finds will host our eighth handmade event in Fort Worth, Texas. With over 140 vendors, Funky Finds: A Holiday Shopping Experience will be our largest indie art & craft show to date.

The family and pet-friendly event features a wide variety of talented artists, crafters & designers selling their unique hand-crafted items ranging from accessories to pet goods and everything in between. Five Texas-based authors will also be signing and selling their latest books.

Funky Finds is known not only for promoting handmade worldwide, but also for supporting a wide variety of charities. Each event features a charitable raffle & all proceeds benefit Toys For Tots and the Humane Society of North Texas. Raffle tickets are $1.00 each and the first 75 attendees each day to purchase five or more tickets will receive a Funky Finds shopping tote filled with magazines, product samples, coupons & more. Those who bring a new unwrapped toy for Toys For Tots will receive one free raffle ticket. The Humane Society will be facilitating on-site pet adoptions and the organization Don't Forget To Feed Me will be accepting pet food donations throughout the event.

For the first time, we will also be selling event t-shirts printed by Quackerbox Creations, Ltd. T-shirts will be $10 each and ALL PROCEEDS benefit the Humane Society of North Texas!

Healing Maggie Grace Raffle

A few weeks ago, fellow blogger and artist, Teresa Atkinson, shared her battle with a kidney stone, much to the amusement of her blog friends. Unfortunately, her prognosis was much more serious. Teresa learned that she had kidney cancer & would need to prepare for immediate surgery so her kidney could be removed. Sadly, Teresa's insurance does not cover this "out of network" doctor, although it does cover part of her surgery. Her deductible is $5,000 for the surgery alone, and follow-up care, chemo, etc. will not be covered by her insurance.

Two bloggers, Jen and MaryAnn, have organized an online raffle to help ease the financial burden Teresa is facing. With a Senior in high school and a college Freshman, Teresa's budget is already tight, and we don't want Teresa to have to struggle with tens of thousands of dollars of medical debt.

Funky Finds has donated a tote bag (minus actual dog) featuring our Chihuahua logo filled with swag. These items are part of a grouping of other items you can bid on this Friday, May 7.

We will be hosting the 2nd Annual Funky Finds Spring Fling this Saturday. The family AND pet-friendly event is a HUGE indie art & craft fair that will feature the work of over 120 artists, crafters & designers from Texas & beyond!

The first 50 attendees to purchase a minimum of five $1.00 raffle tickets will receive a hand-crafted swag bag courtesy of Etsy Fort Worth full of goodies. All raffle proceeds benefit the Humane Society of North Texas & CASA of Tarrant County. Live music by Tahni Handal of Austin, Texas.

Indiepublic's 2nd Anniversary

Indiepublic is an independent art and design community that I am a member of & is free to join. Once you join the site, you get your own page which can be used to interact with Indiepublic's 14,000+ members, promote your businesses, and your art. To celebrate the community's 2nd Anniversary, the group is holding daily raffles that will begin Saturday, August 1. The exact number of raffles depends on how many gift items are donated to the event.

When you purchase a raffle ticket, you are automatically entered into each raffle held throughout the month. Winners will be chosen by a random number generator. Tickets can be purchased via PayPal using the links below:

ABOUT THE EVENT: The family and pet-friendly event will feature a raffle benefiting Humane Society of North Texas, Tarrant Area Food Bank, and Aflac Cancer Center. The first 50 people to purchase a $1 raffle ticket will receive "go green" swag bags hand-crafted by the Dallas Craft Mafia full of funky goods. The Humane Society will also be on-hand facilitating pet adoptions. Other exciting happenings include demos and free one-on-one classes with Fiber Therapy of Burleson, free goodies from Yelp, and a shoe drive benefiting Soles4Souls.

The Spring Fling is a terrific way to celebrate Earth Day as many vendors create recycled and upcycled goods. Eco-conscious shoppers will appreciate having over 100 shops in one location eliminating the waste of time and gasoline driving around town. Attend the Funky Finds Spring Fling on April 25 and celebrate handmade goods and independent artisans.
